Check first — you may already be on it

We built the list out of what organizations publish about themselves: what they do, what they say they need help with, and how they say to get in touch. Nobody was asked first. That means two things worth knowing before you write to us — you might already be listed without having heard from anyone, and if you are, some of it may be out of date or plainly wrong.

So look yourself up first. It's grouped by town, so start with Richmond or Berea.

What an entry is

Short, on purpose:

Your name, the way you'd want it read.
What you need a hand with — a sentence or two, concrete. "Pack grocery boxes for pickup and help run the walk-through pantry" tells somebody far more than "we need volunteers."
Where you are — a street address, or just the town if you'd rather. It's linked to a map.
A phone number and a website, if you have them.
A link to your own volunteer page, if you have one. That link points at your intake, not at ours.

That's the whole entry. There's no profile to maintain, nothing to log into, and nothing that expires.

How to send it

Use the form on our organizers page. It's the same form we use for anyone who wants to talk to us, so it asks a couple of things that aren't strictly needed for a listing — your name, an email, roughly what kind of group you are and how big. Answer those however's true.

The last box is the one that matters here. Put the entry in it: what you need a hand with, your address, your phone, your website, and your volunteer page if you have one. A real person reads it, and you don't need an account to write to us.

If something's wrong, or you'd rather not be listed

Same form, same last box. Tell us what to change and we'll change it — a moved address, a program that ended, a phone number that's been wrong for two years, a description that makes you sound like something you aren't.

And if you'd rather the entry came down, say so and it comes down. No questions, and we won't write back to talk you out of it. A listing somebody has asked to be off of isn't useful to anyone.

What being listed means, and what it doesn't

It doesn't mean you use Lightwork. It doesn't mean we've checked you out, and it doesn't mean you've checked us out. None of the organizations on that list are affiliated with us and none of them use the app. It's a list, not an endorsement, in either direction — that's written on the page itself, above the entries, so nobody reads it the other way.

What it does mean is that somebody searching for who needs volunteers around Richmond or Berea can find you and reach you directly. Every link in an entry goes to your phone, your site, or your own volunteer page.

Who this is for

Any organization based in or serving Madison County that takes volunteers — nonprofits, food pantries, shelters, senior centers, churches, clinics, animal rescues, civic clubs. Small is fine. New is fine. If you accept help from people who don't already work for you, you belong on the list.

Madison County is the only county we cover right now. If you're somewhere else in Kentucky, write anyway — knowing where the interest is tells us where to go next.
