Lightwork is a free app for asking for help when you need a hand — and offering it when you can. A meal after a baby. A ride to an appointment. Hands for a move. The small, ordinary acts that carry a community.
Why we built it
Most people want to help their neighbors. What gets in the way is rarely unwillingness — it’s coordination, and the awkwardness of asking. The person in need doesn’t want to bother anyone. The person who’d gladly pitch in never hears about the need. So the meal train lives in a spreadsheet, the ride request gets lost in a group thread, and help that was there all along never quite connects.
Lightwork exists to close that gap. Post what you need in a sentence. The people in your group see it and can offer to help with a tap. The details get sorted in the app, and the need gets met — without the coordinator burnout.
What we believe
Asking for help should feel as normal as offering it. We build for that — private by default, anonymous when you need it, no strangers and no open marketplace, just the communities you already belong to. There are no ads and no attention to sell. Lightwork measures help given, not time spent.
It works the same everywhere — churches, neighborhoods, schools, mutual-aid circles, small nonprofits, HOAs. One app for the whole rhythm of life together.
Who makes it
Lightwork is built and operated by MK Solutions, LLC, a small independent software studio in Richmond, Kentucky. We’re early — building carefully, in public, and listening.
